A guy posts some version of this on an r/ProstateCancer thread every week:
"It's been four months, and my daily pad count isn't going down anymore. Is this just my life now?"
I read those threads more than I'd admit to most people. I've never once posted. I'm just there to listen.
So, in case you're the guy asking this week:
No, this isn’t your new normal. This will almost certainly pass.
The month 4 stall is common. Maddening as hell, but common.
Thing is, when you've been counting pads since the catheter came out, daily pad count stops being just a number…
It becomes your recovery scoreboard.
And when the score stops changing around month 4, it starts to feel like a verdict.
It isn’t…
Here's what's actually going on under the hood:
Early recovery brings some quick wins. Swelling goes down. The bladder settles. The pad count drops.
Then the obvious progress slows.
You’re still healing, but the scoreboard can stop moving for a while.
Then one day, sometimes almost out of nowhere, it starts moving again.
One guy on Reddit said his pad count turned around so fast he figured it was a fluke. But it stuck.
Even if the stall is temporary, you still have to live your life.
You shouldn't have to map out bathrooms before you go anywhere.
Or turn down that round of golf, fishing trip, or dinner with your buddies, because the thought of an accident in front of people won't leave you alone.
That’s what Freewill guard pouch underwear and guards are for.
Freewill holds the line so you can stop thinking about leaks while your body gets on with recovery in the background.
Here’s how one guy put it:
"The first time sence my prostate cancer surgery that I have felt confident enough to wear light colored pants." - Jeff T.
And here's the part most brands won't tell you: with any luck, you'll need us less as you heal.
It’s different for every guy, but the heavy months pass. The guard count starts dropping again.
Eventually, you're down to the odd drips and drops.
In the meantime, if you’re living through that messy middle recovery, that’s exactly what we made Freewill for.
For the stretch where you’re healing, but still need real protection, and you’re done letting recovery run your day.
